Revamping outdated systems to streamline operations and meet the growing demands of a seven-figure business with top pharmaceutical clients.
Challenge
The website (www.chemrus.com) displayed inaccurate product prices, the wrong business address, and many outdated elements. Additionally, the accounting software, invoice system, and shipping label system were outdated. From receiving orders by phone to shipping patented products to hundreds of top pharmaceutical customers, including Harvard, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, and NIH, the process was inefficient. With rising demand and aging software, it was difficult for this small company to keep up.
Results
The owner was not interested in a redesign of the website. Instead, I corrected the website's incorrect information and was responsible for maintaining and backing it up. I also taught the CEO website development and provided detailed instructions so she could manage the site herself. Additionally, I developed a program in Excel and Visual Basic to automate accounting, invoicing, and shipping label management. Now, the owner and employees no longer has to spend time managing orders and can focus on improving products, attracting more clients, and scaling the business.
